There’s A Day For Chocolate Chips?!
Who doesn’t love a great chocolate chip cookie? Few people can turn down the soft baked, gooey, chocolate filled dessert (apologies in advance to our lactose intolerant friends). Well, tomorrow is National Chocolate Chip Day! We’re obviously excited it, but do you know how it came to be?
How It Happened.
According to NationalDayCalendar.com, Ruth Graves Wakefield is the inventor of the “chocolate chip”. She was a cook at Toll House Inn located in Whitman, Massachusetts. Her curious intuition eventually lead her to add chunks of Nestle chocolate to her favorite cookie recipe. As we all know, the cookies became an instant classic.
“In 1939 Wakefield signed an agreement with Nestle to add her recipe to the chocolate bar’s packaging. In exchange for the recipe, Wakefield received a lifetime supply of chocolate. ”
Her chocolate escapade led to the birth of the “Toll House Cookie” brand. She pioneered a new genre of cookie that has lived far longer than she could have ever imagined. In celebration of Ruth, we have #ChocolateChipDay, a day we’ve got a special treat for all our chocolate chip lovers!
